Coronavirus, Influenza and Fake News.

It seems the news about the novel coronavirus (2019nCoV) is mixed. Depending on the source, we are on the verge of a pandemic, or the virus is on the decline.

Just to put things into perspective, the CDC estimates that the seasonal flu has caused 29 million illnesses, 280,000 hospitalization and 83,734 deaths. In comparison, the Coronavirus  has infected 93,160, killed 3,203. But something that is not covered on the news, 50,961 people have fully recovered. This is not to say we should not be conserved, just that you should read beyond the headlines and try to do your own research.

Like the flu, older people, and people with preexisting condition are at  very young and people currently dealing with an illness are more at risk to becoming extremely ill or to die due to the Coronavirus. So follow the same common sense recommendations of hand washing, disinfecting surfaces and stay hydrated.
